Cross-border purchases from the Middle East surged to 37%, highlighting the trend towards high-end height adjustable desks.
The Middle East and African markets are becoming a hidden growth engine for the height-adjustable desk industry. According to an industry report from 51baogao.cn, the Saudi Arabian and UAE markets are projected to reach $310 million and $280 million, respectively, in the first half of 2025, with year-on-year growth exceeding 30%. Cross-border e-commerce channels contributed 37% of transaction volume, a significant increase from 12% in 2020.
High-end demand is driving market expansion. The Middle East's wealthy class's desire for an upgraded office experience is driving strong sales of high-end products. Customized height-adjustable desks priced over $3,000 are experiencing a 42% growth rate, primarily for private villas, high-end office buildings, and luxury hotels. Logchuang's gold-plated smart desk model, featuring integrated air purification and wireless charging, has surpassed 2,000 units per month on the Souq platform, with an average order value of $4,500. "Local consumers prioritize luxury and versatility and are willing to pay a premium for added value," said a category manager at Amazon Middle East.
Commercial applications are becoming a key market. The expansion of high-end business districts such as the Dubai International Financial Center and the Abu Dhabi Science Park has driven bulk purchases, with single orders exceeding US$1 million increasing by 58% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025. International brands dominate the commercial market thanks to their advantageous distribution channels. Smart office suites from Thermo Fisher Scientific and B. Braun Medical hold a 52% market share. However, Chinese brands are rapidly penetrating the market through cross-border e-commerce, with their market share increasing from 8% in 2023 to 17%.
Policy planning creates long-term opportunities. Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" proposes the development of a smart office ecosystem, aiming to increase the penetration of smart lifting equipment in government agencies to 90% over the next five years. The UAE has incorporated healthy office equipment into its green building rating system, with the related market expected to exceed US$1 billion by 2027.
