The penetration rate of environmentally friendly materials has increased by 15% annually, and green design has become a pass for the high-end market.
Data released at the 3rd International Green Home Expo shows that the use of environmentally friendly materials in the height-adjustable table industry is growing at an average annual rate of 15%. Composite structures such as bamboo fiber and recycled aluminum alloy are now used in 65% of new products, making green design a core competitive factor in the high-end market.
Healthy and environmentally friendly demands are driving material upgrades. A World Health Organization study on indoor environments shows that formaldehyde released by low-quality office furniture is a major source of indoor pollution, driving a 300% increase in consumer interest in environmentally friendly materials. SGS testing data shows that sales of FSC-certified bamboo fiber height-adjustable tables increased by 217% year-on-year in the first half of 2023, with E0-grade board products accounting for 78% of the market share.
Companies are accelerating the development of green technologies. The AILINK A9 Red Oak series utilizes North American FAS-grade red oak treated with a formaldehyde-free process, making it a top choice for families with children. Lechuang's recycled aluminum alloy table frame is 30% lighter than traditional steel and has a 95% recyclability rate. "Environmental protection isn't an afterthought; it's a fundamental requirement for our products," said Lechuang's R&D director.
The green premium effect is gradually emerging. A survey shows that the proportion of consumers willing to pay a 10-15% premium for eco-friendly designs has increased from 32% in 2023 to 58%, and eco-friendly products have already contributed to 35% of the high-end market. At the Shanghai International Furniture Fair, adjustable desks made of bio-based composite materials were priced 20% higher than standard models, yet they still attracted a large number of inquiries from European and American customers.
Policies and the market are driving this trend. The "Green Product Evaluation Standards for Office Furniture" explicitly incorporates the environmental performance of materials into the rating system, requiring green products to account for no less than 80% of government procurement. The EU's new CE certification strengthens formaldehyde emission testing, further forcing companies to upgrade their processes. Industry experts predict that by 2026, the market share of adjustable desks made of eco-friendly materials will exceed 85%, and the proportion of bio-based composite materials is expected to rise to 40%.
